Alex Hetherington, Director of the Third Line Group, is an independent ESG strategist and investment analyst. He has over twenty years working with public and private companies on ESG strategies, reporting responses and alignment with investor expectations. He currently assists investors and financiers understand the climate exposure of portfolios and projects, and helps companies prepare for impending physical and transitional climate change trends. 

He trains regulators, investors and company leaders in climate change regulation, climate response and climate-related risks and opportunities identified through climate change scenario analysis. Where appropriate, he deploys the TCFD reporting framework to assist in such analysis. 

During 2023 he has been sub-contracted to train the Amman Stock Exchange, Jordan CPA Society and the Saudi Arabian Market Authority by international ESG finance training company, weESG. His training focuses on emerging international climate regulation; international climate reporting standards; and, investor awareness on the risks and opportunities of climate change. 

Alex is also the co-founder of Carbon Calculated, an accredited GHG accounting and climate change consultancy. Carbon Calculated has expertise in carbon footprinting, including PCAF (the GHG accounting methodology for the financial sector); third party carbon footprint verification; CDP and TCFD submissions; and, the setting of science-based GHG reduction targets for financial and other industries. Alex and Carbon Calculated work synonymously on projects that entail shared and collaborative expertise.
