The competition targets students from various disciplines and levels, including undergraduate and graduate students, who are interested in ESG. The competition aims to attract students from diverse backgrounds, including those studying engineering, business, social sciences, and natural sciences.
The competition will be divided into multiple stages, including an initial application stage, where students can submit a 1 one-page proposal, followed by a selection of finalists who will compete in a final round. The competition will be judged by a panel of experts in sustainability and innovation.
Students will be asked to submit a one pager (and a longer proposal if they make it to round 2) detailing any innovative idea that they have, to address an ESG challenge or opportunity they see in the world, country or local community.
We are looking for ideas that will make a big impact and change the status quo and could address a negative impact like prevent pollution or a positive opportunity like job creation. It can be a product, a process change, a new approach or combination of those things.
The student must detail how the innovative idea will be implemented and why and how it will make an impact. It can be an idea that cross cuts all three areas of ESG or one that addresses only one component of it.
The ESG student innovation competition aims to inspire and recognise innovative solutions to environmental, social, and governance challenges.
This competition provides a platform for students to showcase their talents, engage in critical thinking, and demonstrate their commitment to creating a sustainable and equitable future.
Through this competition, we hope to inspire a new generation of leaders committed to driving real change and impact across the continent
